Despite scoring 15 goals on the path to winning the Champions League, Cristiano Ronaldo did not win the award as he finished second in the voting behind former teammate Luka Modric. Modric enjoyed a fine campaign in the Champions League managing to win the trophy together with Ronaldo. The Croatian also played a pivotal role in his country finishing 2nd in the World Cup and reaching the final.

“Cristiano is fine and trained well”, Juve boss Allegri said.

“On Thursday he was angry because he won the Champions League and scored 15 goals. This shows he wants to be the best always”, added the Italian.
