West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini has suffered a serious knee injury in training, and that is the reason why he is ruled out of the World Cup. The 25-year-old playmaker was named in Jorge Sampaoli’s 23-man squad last month.
The national side announced on Twitter:
“Manuel Lanzini suffered, in today’s morning training, the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee,”
Sampaoli is also without Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero. Argentina have yet to announce a replacement for West Ham star.
Argentina are in Group D and they start their journey against Iceland on June 16.
Further fixtures is with Croatia on June 21 and Nigeria on June 26.
