Tottenham players could cost England the World Cup, claims Tony Adams11/06/2018 09:07
Arsenal hero Tony Adams has told The Sun that Tottenham players do not know how to win. The ex-defender believes that could be a major problem for the England at the World Cup.
The former Arsenal and England captain is worried the lack of winning mentality of the Spurs players will hurt England at the World Cup. “You must be able to handle winning mentally and emotionally”, Tony Adams told The Sun. “If you do not know how, you will not win” added Adams.
“Teams who win World Cups usually have a real anchor, such as Sergio Ramos or Fabio Cannavaro,” Adams said. England haven’t got that rock. Also Adams believes that manager Gareth Southgate, a former England teammate, is “perfect for the FA”. And he will be able to get the most out of the squad.
Five Tottenham players (captain Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Danny Rose, Eric Dier and Kieran Trippier), are in the England squad.
England start their World Cup journey on June 18 against Tunisia. They will then face Panama and Belgium in Group G.
